Hoops4Heroes 2018

Hoops4Heroes 2018 is in the books! This year brought some new teams and new faces to our 3-on-3 basketball tournament! But the team that took home the trophy has been a Hoops4Heroes regular since 2014.

The morning kicked off with talented local recording artists JessLee performing the National Anthem while the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps of Palm Beach County presented our nation’s Color Guard. Three teams from 2017 were seeded to the second bracket, and the games begun around 10:15 a.m.

A couple of tight games made the first round interesting, with Team Geneva going 25-22 over Hoops4Heroes veterans BackBreakers. Returning runner-up champs from 2017 Team KB sending team Finesse into the loser’s bracket. Both teams put up a defensive showdown with a final score of 10-9.

But it was returning H4H team Player’s Training Academy that ultimately sailed through the tournament into the final game against H4H rookie team Syracuse Orange undefeated. The boys in orange put up impressive play all day, but couldn’t topple The Adademy.

The 3-point shootout competition was lead by Eddie Peterson until Ben Salopek stole the #1 slot with a last-rack ringer. Final standings: Ben Salopek with 9; Eddie Peterson with 7; Whit Tassey with 6.

Big thanks are in order:
